The Teachers

Jean Torne

Principal of the school, Chef Jean Torné, brings 26 years training & professional experience in both classical French & international whole food cuisine to the Concord School of Culinary Arts.

Since 1997 Jean Torné has served as Principal cooking teacher at Concord Institute for Integral Studies and director of catering for all Concord's major events. Prior to this, Jean was Head Chef at Kientalerhoff (international holistic health teaching centre, Switzerland) for ten years.

Nigel Walker has a background in catering management and travel. His love of baking and good food stretches back to his training in classical French cuisine at Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland. In the 80’s Nigel ran his own vegetarian café/restaurant in Essex, where he baked bread every day. At present he teaches vegetarian and macrobiotic cooking, and runs VegiVentures, a travel company specialising in holidays with healthy food.
